Everyone loves hash browns and I was intent on getting some for my slower, more leisurely hikes that I go on when I ran across Golden Grill Russet Hash Browns on Amazon.  I had never heard of this brand but the 400+ reviews just don’t lie – I looked some of the reviews over and made the purchase.

I bought the 8 count package that claims 56 servings which I questioned at first, or at least until I soaked them in water per the instructions and they expanded ten fold.  I couldn’t believe how much was in each one of these little cartons!  Once they rehydrated I popped them in a skillet with some vegetable oil and enjoyed that delicious waft of goodness until they were done.  They smelled amazing while they cooked up and they tasted even better.  I have not tasted better hash browns as of yet and I’ll put them up against just about any out there.  I’ve eaten in plenty of grills and small town restaurants but these things are fantastic.  I’ve also added some Harmony House Foods Soup Mix, Dried Vegetable, 12 Ounce Quart Size Jar to these hash browns while they rehydrate and it makes a fortified mix.  But, you have to be a little more careful because the vegetables can burn quite easily in the skillet.  Another great dehydrated vegetable mix that I’m sure I’ll try adding is Just Tomatoes Just Veggies (8-Ounces ), Large Pouch (Pack of 2).  These come in both regular and a hot version for a little added spice.

I’ve taken them on one hiking trip at this point and they tasted just as incredible as if I’d cooked them at home.  I cooked them up in my MSR Flex Skillet a little bit of vegetable oil.

I highly recommend these for anyone who wants a delicious breakfast on any outdoor hike where you have the extra time; extra room and don’t mind the extra weight.  Good stuff!
