My Snow Peak Titanium Mini Solo Cookset fast became my favorite kit on my backpacking trips.  It was also my first piece of titanium gear (or was my Snowpeak Titanium Spork my first?).  In either case it became my favorite cooking gear and went with me on all hikes.

It has really served me well but I had to make a few adjustments along the way and there are a few things I just never really cared for.

First off, after a while I ditched the little titanium cup because let’s face it, what good is a two-sip cup?  The cup is just too small and feels awkward when full of liquid.  Actually it feels awkward whether full or half-full so I ditched it.  But, it just so happens that it is also the only part of this cookset that has the measurement graduations on it so once I ditched it I guessed at how much water was in the larger pot.  This setup worked pretty well for awhile and I replaced the small cup with a cut down Sobe water bottle cup that I cut down which happens to be my favorite cup that I take on nearly every trip.  My latest is a Gatorade 32oz bottle that I cut down and converted into a cup because it’s much larger than a Sobe cup.

The other main issue was the fact that the handles would get too hot to hold once the water in the pot reached the boiling point.  This was solved fairly easily though by removing the handles and installing some Du-Bro 222 3/32″ x 2′ Medium Super Blue Silicone Tubing then reinstalling them.  This stuff totally insulates the handles so I can easily pick up my titanium pot full of boiling water by the handles.

This has been my go-to cooking pot for several years, though just recently I went ahead and purchased a Toaks Titanium 600ml pot that I have yet to use at this point.  So far I have boiled some water at home in this pot but haven’t tried it out in the field yet.  Here is some information on this Toaks Titanium 600ml Pot on it and I’ll update it as I put it to use.
