Linville Gorge

I bought one of the Bahco 396-LAP Laplander Folding Saw, 8-Inch Blade, 7 TPI about 6 months ago and love it!  This thing is awesome and has handled just about anything I’ve thrown at it.  It’s imported from Sweden by Snapon so you know it’s a good quality tool because they stand behind their tools one hundred percent.  Now it might be too heavy for an ultra-light backpacker but for most of us it’s a really smart tool to take because it only weighs about 6.5 ounces.

When this thing finally arrived and I got my hands on it I could tell right away that it was of good quality.  .  When you flip open the blade it locks in solid and has absolutely no intentions of collapsing.  And when you use it you can tell it won’t fall apart on you and it’s very comfortable to grip.  The hardened teeth are very sharp too!

I literally cut 8 inch logs for firewood at Grayson Highlands and this baby blew threw them like they were nothing.  I was pretty surprised to see the blade didn’t even think about starting to dull down.  Needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed and now I’m considering buying a another one for a backup simply because I like it so much and cant bear the idea of not  being able to find a replacement when mine wears out.

Here is some information about this mighty little saw straight from the manufacturers website:

Well it’s now 12/30/14 and I’ve had this saw on a few different trips now without any issues.  I took it to Linville Gorge back in late October and it served me very well.  It blew threw just about any branch or log I’ve thrown at it so I’ll keep lugging it along which is kind of funny because it only weighs about 6.5 ounces.

Update 1/24/16:  As of 1/24/16 I’ve taken my Bahco 396 Laplander Saw on many hiking trips and it’s yet to let me down.  It’s still nearly as sharp as the day I got it.  This thing has buzzed through branches and logs ranging from 1″ to 8″ and some of the logs were oak.  I am seriously thinking about buying another just in case they disappear.

No kidding if you are anything but an ultra light backpacker you will love this saw.
