My warm weather Camelbak Eddy or SoBe Bottle hands-free setup

I hiked with my Camelbak bladder all the time until a friend who is an ultralighter talked some sense into me!   Well I took his advice and now I go with a different setup in any season but winter.

In the winter I will sometimes take my Camelbak Unbottle because it’s insulated and easier to keep from freezing.  However, in any season other than winter I go with a Camelbak Eddy Bottle along with the Camelbak Hands-Free Adaptor and it works pretty well for on the fly hands-free drinking.  I like the Camelbak Eddy because it has a pretty strong loop built into the lid.

Let me also mention that I now use an empty SoBe brand plastic drink bottle in place of the Camelbak bottle.  It’s lighter, cheaper and has indentation rings around it for the shock cord to rest in and therefore it locks it in place.  I simply drill the lid and use a small length of Camelbak hose with a Camelbak shutoff valve on the end.  I really like this method.

I just cut the tube down; attach it and hang the Eddy bottle  from my front shoulder strap with a NiteIze S-Biner.  I secured the bottle with some 1/8″ Shock Cord For Replacement, Repair, & Outdoors – Variety of Colors available in 10, 25, & 50 Foot Lengths and  optional 10 Pcs Plastic Spring Stop Toggle Cord Locks End Black to keep it from bouncing and it’s perfect.
